The Artist di Michel Hazanavicius con Jean Dujardin e Bérénice Bejo ha vinto agli Annual Producers Guild Awards (PGA Awards), i riconoscimenti assegnata dalla Producers Guild of America (PGA), l’associazione che riunisce oltre 4700 tra i produttori cinematografici e non degli Stati Uniti. Si tratta del secondo premio più importante che un produttore possa vincere dopo l’Oscar al Miglior Film. La pellicola, che ha già vinto il Golden Globe ed è favorita nella corsa agli Oscar, ha battuto la concorrenza di Paradiso Amaro, Hugo Cabret, Millennium: Uomini che Odiano le Donne, The Help, Moneyball, Le Idi di Marzo, War Horse e Le Amiche della Sposa.
Premiati anche Peter Jackson, Kathleen Kennedy e Steven Spielberg per Le Avventure di Tintin – Il Segreto dell’Unicorno, come migliori produttori per un film animato battendo Rango. Negli ultimi anni il riconoscimento ai produttori è considerato una vera e propria anteprima degli Oscar: il vincitore delle ultime quattro edizioni si è poi portato a casa l’Oscar come miglior Film (No Country For Old Men, The Millionaire, The Hurt Locker, Il Discorso del Re).
